Situated in the picturesque village of Lothersdale, Spendale Stone is a new company with 30 years experience!
The name Spendale is taken from Lower Spen House which is the original name for Devonshire House Farm, and Dale from Lothersdale, hence, the name "Spendale".
The company has been set up by Richard Parker, a local builder and refurbisher, who has lived in the village for nearly 40 years. Richard has a life long passion for stone, and is highly skilled in the art of dry and wet walling, and is fully conversant with all aspects of stonemasonry. He can literally make anything from stone.
Spendale Stone is a bi-product of the finest quality Yorkshire stone. When we use the word bi-product, it is simply all the leftovers and off-cuts from the massive boulders quarried from far below ground with no ‘bed’ or cracks running through it. Richard sees this as ideal for re-cycling rather than just being dumped in land fill sites. |

Spendale Stone can make just about anything you require for your home, conservatory, patio or garden. Tables, chairs, seats, bird baths, bird tables, water features, candle holders, and wine racks, to name but a few. Past commissions include a 6’ x 2’ stone table with 2 stone benches, an 8’ x 2’ full height stone table and water features incorporating fountain, small pond and Yorkshire stone rockery. Each is individually made and unique to you!
Spendale Stone Products are in fact less expensive than the resin, plastic or imitation stone products on the market today. Stone will last for generations, gaining beauty with age. Stone will not crack with the frost or bleach with the sun, and is a 100% natural and eco-friendly material.
Many other items can be viewed by appointment at Richard’s home. He will be pleased to advise on any of your requirements or personal commissions in Yorkshire stone, granite, marble or limestone. Items can also be viewed at the Lakeside Garden Centre, Foulridge Click here for map.
